The Holidays

ThaNkSgiVinG

I thought I was going to be a little better at keeping up with my posting but I haven't been. Sorry. Our holidays this year were really good, although not everything went as planned. We spent Thanksgiving with Scott's family up in Idaho, which was really nice. We hadn't been up there since the summer so it was nice to see everyone again. We had dinner at his Grandma and Grandpa Bratsman and they did a really good job. During our time there we mostly just relaxed. Scott and his dad went golfing one of the afternoons and it was freezing! Scott forgot to bring a jacket to Idaho with us so he just tried to layer clothes to keep warm. It was pretty funny.

We also had the chance to hang out with our friends, Devin and Jen. We had dinner at Jen's apartment and Devin is a pretty good cook. But I also wanted to tell them ConGrAtuLaTionS!!!! on their engagment. They got engaged over Christmas break.

My niece and nephew came into the dental office I work out and turns out each of them had some cavities. But Preston had the most....ten cavities! So needless to say he had to make a several visits back to get them all fixed. I got to assist on him and on Kylee when she was in. They both did really well, but I was so impressed with Preston! He's 7 years old and was the perfect patient everytime. He used nitrous his first time and the next 3 visits he was so good without the nitrous and never even flinched with the shots. Heather took some pictures of one of his visits.

My mother and stepdad had made plans to have their sealing preformed on the Saturday after Christmas. Matt and Chrissy were already going to be out in Washington at our sister, Ericka's home, so we just had to gt us and Matt and Heather out there. We planned on driving there the morning after Christmas. The week before Christmas we started having some bad snow storms here and in Portland area as well. We decided to do a family fast the Monday (12/22) before for better weather to get us out there. We definitely got our answer that day, although it wasn't the one we wanted. First I get a call from Chrissy that their flight had been cancelled. She was pretty upset and was wondering if they could ride with us out there. So at that point we looked at renting a car that could fit 9 people and there was nothing available. Then I found out that the highway we need to take through Oregon has been closed. When I talked with my mom she just felt like we needed to reschedule it. They thought it be a good time to do it since two of the four kids in our family would be there already, but that wasn't the case anymore. We were all disappointed but felt peaceful about it.

On Tuesday (12/23) I went up to Salt Lake to take my placement test for SLCC. I talked to Chrissy and planned to have lunch with her afterwards since they were home now. I did really well on my placement and am clear to take biology. I also tested out of the english class I was planning on taking so that was nice. Chrissy and I got together headed to temple square. I needed to get a few things from the Distribution Center in the Joseph Smith Building. The tree in the building is amazing. From there we went to lunch at the Lion House and then I had to head home. We had a lot of fun.

Scott and I spent a relaxing Christmas Eve together and watched Polar Express before heading to bed. I had a hard time sleeping. I kept waking up during the night and looking at the clock and thinking "nope, still too early." I felt like I was 5 again. We finally got up and headed out to open our presents together.

We had Matt and his family over, along with Matt and Chrissy. We all enjoyed dinner together and we played card games, board games, and Guitar Hero World Tour until almost 4 in the morning! It was a way fun night.
The Saturday after Christmas Scott's family came down from Idaho. We had our little Christmas together and played games together. We introduced them to Cafe Rio that night and of course they liked it. They stayed the night in Lehi and went to church with us the next morning. They stayed for lunch afterwards and then needed to leave to head home. We really enjoyed seeing them and appreciate them for making the drive down.

Our New Years Eve was a lot like Christmas except we had more people there. Heather had an old friend, also named Heather, that was visiting from Wisconsin here. So she came over with her husband, Dan, and their 2 kids. All the kids played their own Wii in one of our back bedrooms and we all played different games out in the living room. We stopped to watch the ball drop and get our kisses from our spouses, then the games continued. Dan and Heather left shortly after midnight and I don't even remember when Matt and Heather left but I know it was late. Chrissy crashed out on the couch, which isn't surprising for her. Matt A, Scott, and I stayed up till around 4am playing the Guitar Hero World Tour. Scott decided to take a 15 power nap.....yeah right! He was out. Matt and I got to bed close to 5am! Fortunately Matt and Chrissy planned on spending the night so I didn't have to worry about them driving home at that time. They stayed until 5 or 6 the next evening, playing games again. It was fun having everyone here this year.

I just can't believe how fast the year went by. Scott and I were blessed to have a good year together in 2008. Celebrated our first anniversary, spent a lot of time with family, had a new nephew born, going to visit my family in Oregon (Scott's first time there), both receiving new jobs, spending time with great friends... it goes on. I look forward to another year (and MANY more) with Scott. I think there will be a lot more changes for us, but kids are not in the plan yet. I know that this year will be great!
